NEW YORK, Aug. 29, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — SmartMetric, Inc. (OTCQB:SMME) – SmartMetric is pleased to announce that it has completed the engineering of its new upgraded biometric card for the banking industry and security customers next month.

The main new features of the SmartMetric biometric card are its auto on feature that allows the card to power on without the need of a separate on switch. This allows the card’s internal fingerprint scanner to be activated the moment the user touches the card’s fingerprint sensor.

Another important feature and upgrade is the card’s internal rechargeable battery. The company in association with its battery factory has been able to engineer a new battery that can withstand much higher heat during the card plastic lamination process. This allows the company to use standard credit card lamination machines used in the credit card manufacturing industry.

In addition to the company has increased the light emission power output of its LED indicator light that shows either green or red for a fingerprint match. The LED is now 20 times brighter than our first model allowing the cards lights to be seen easily outside in the daylight.

SmartMetric took the opportunity while making these changes to redesign its electronics board so that it is now a one-board-makes-many-cards board. That means that five different types of cards covering the both the credit card industry and the security card industry are able to be manufactured from the one board.

“The one-board-many-cards now allows us to do just in time card manufacturing where our electronic component assembly is able to switch from one card type to another almost instantly. This gives us not only better scale of manufacturing but just in time manufacturing capability to meet the demands for our range of card biometric card products,” said today Chaya Hendrick, President & CEO of SmartMetric, Inc.

SmartMetric’s distributors in both the United States and Latin America have been presenting our first model card to some the largest card issuing banks in their regions. They are now eagerly awaiting the delivery of the new upgraded model. Distributors of our biometric security card have customers now waiting for the new product and see a great market ahead for our one of a kind product.

SmartMetric first started developing a biometric card for the credit card industry based on the Chip Card used in todays credit and debit cards and using a fingerprint scanner developed by SmartMetric inside the credit card, to scan and validate the card user by their fingerprint. There are now over seven (7) billion chip cards issued globally.
